Jan Mc Laughlin Mack AKA ( Mrs Superbad)
Voluntary and Charity Work
Jan McLaughlin Mack was born in Glasgow, as one of the “terrible twins”, Janet and John, born to Molly and Boyd Tindal. She was raised from the age of five in Alexandria, Dunbartonshire.
She graduated in 1974 and took up a position with Lanarkshire County Council and is currently employed as Development Officer-Curriculum within the Learning and Leisure Service of North Lanarkshire Council.
Pursuing a career spanning forty two years in local government she has spent most of her time working with young people and developing services for the 12-25 year age range.
When she met and married former Light Heavyweight Contender Freddie Mack, also known as Mr Superbad, she became Co-Director of “Superbad Productions” and she helped Freddie re-invent his Mr Superbad persona as his manager for 16 years.
She developed an interest in Radio and became the “Supersonic Lady” supporting Mr Superbad on his Local Radio Shows both in Scotland and Tenerife.
Because of her extensive knowledge and involvement in the Lanarkshire Community and her role as a Director of Clan F.M, Lanarkshire’s first local radio station, she was invited to Chair the Community Advisory Panel to ensure that local people got the kind of Service they should from local radio.
Jan has also been known to perform live on stage in Xmas Pantomime playing parts in “Santa I Want an Alien for Xmas” or as “Nurse Nappy” in The Funky Robin Hood to name but a few.
She has also been involved in extensive charity work and regularly dons her Nurse Ducky outfit at the Duck Races held on the River Clyde to raise funds for the Variety Club of Scotland.
In addition she is a founder member of the Scots Boxing Hall of Fame and is the Director/Treasurer of this Scottish Charity to honour and preserve Scotland’s rich boxing history, to ensure the welfare of former boxers and to encourage good role models for young men.
As a founder and Director of Janco, a Training and Consultancy Company for promoting excellence in Working with Children and Young People she has supported a number of voluntary organisations across Scotland like Space Unlimited and Maryhill Central Halls, Clean Glasgow campaign and Chapelcross Nuclear Station and many more..
Currently she is the Chair of “Superbad Enterprises” set up by the Mack Family to promote and preserve the legacy left by Freddie Mack, Mr Superbad, and to continue to support the Charities favoured by him like the Airdrie Hospice. She is one of the promoters of Mr Superbad’s Sensational Soul Show scheduled for 11th September’09, Another Superbad Experience in March’10 and Souled Out Completely in May’11
Most recently she has become one of the founder members of a new registered charity “VIP Academy of Arts” to be based in Viewpark from April’11 and she has, on a voluntary basis, supported the development of this organisation which is run exclusively by young people for North Lanarkshire.
