Freddie Mack III
Son Of Mr Superbad……….
Freddie Mack III, born in the swinging sixties travelled as a child across the country, performing as part of a working ‘showbiz’ family. Freddie supported his father “out front” whilst he toured bands like “Freddie Mack and The Mack Sound” playing alongside ‘greats’, such as the Temptations and the “unforgettable” Barry White.
Though educated in London, his Scottish roots from the maternal side of the family brought him back to Scotland where he now lives and works.
When Freddie Mack Jnr. became Mr Superbad in the 70’s, the family made the move with him. During this time “little” Freddie’s love of music began to grow, shadowing that of his father. He watched, taking notes of his musical influences. Soul pioneers such Al Green, James Brown, Michael Jackson and of course Motown.
Learning from the sidelines, Freddie began to follow in his father’s footsteps. He inherited not only Mr Superbad’s ear for music but also his unmistakeable charisma, which he brings to the “DJ box”, and at the concert performs his own personal tribute to his father. Remembering the last time they worked together when he supported his father as back up “jock” during his final performance at Monklands Hospital Staff Christmas party.
Freddie has researched and compiled most of the music that will be played at the concert, having learnt from the expert. He possesses the same booming voice of his father, albeit in a different key. Freddie Mack Jnr. was incredibly proud of this talent, which was his son’s alone.
Freddie will continue his father’s legacy, developing his career as a DJ, but adding his own intrinsic sense of fun and personality to his father’s famous style of entertainment.
Both Freddie’s shared a love of music spanning 5 decades, and his father was honoured to share the stage with a son, who had travelled with him on his musical journey.
