Dawn Sodden

Inspired by Mr Superbad…

Dawn Sodden was born in Scotland during the 1970’s, a larger than life decade. Star Wars, Strikes and Strife, Heavyweights, Platform Shoes, and of course Disco. An era during which the personality DJ’s would begin to emerge.

Her early musical inspirations were Donna Summer, Kate Bush, and Diana Ross, young female artists with strong opinions, who took control of their music. At an early age Dawn displayed creative talent, excelling in art singing and dancing and dreaming of adventure. After school she travelled throughout Britain and Europe to broaden her horizons. A journey Freddie Superbad made himself many times. On her travels she met Freddie Mack III who introduced her to his father.

Dawn remembers most his larger than life personality, warmth and charm. A showman who believed in following your dreams.

She will never forget the first time she met Mr Superbad, Freddie III had taken her to one of his shows, Mr Superbad asked for someone from the audience to dance with him, so on the spur of the moment she jumped up, the highlight was Freddie Mack III’s look of amazement. She was equally honoured when after a performance in Tenerife he whispered in her ear, in his own distinct manner “that was beautiful baby”.

Freddie Superbad’s words have inspired her to return to her earlier passion. To perform in the concert as her tribute to an unforgettable man. Dawn is honoured to have the opportunity to work with gifted performers as they pay recognition to a man who was himself larger than life.

Asked if she could speak with him one last time, what would her question be, she gave the answer “what did you think of the show, Mr. Superbad”?

There can be no doubt as to what his response would have been.
